Just after purchasing my 2004 350 SL, I tilted the passenger seat forward to gain access to the CD Multichanger. When I pressed the button to return the seat to normal it only travelled a short distance but I think it was because I had closed the door during the process.
Anyhow I moved the seat back using the seat position buttons on the door. Today I was putting a jacket behind the seat and it wouldn’t work at all but the drivers seat worked fine.
Earlier this evening I had a look to see what was wrong, so I first tried moving the seat fully forwards then using the seat top button to return it but no joy.
I then pressed all three memory buttons, one at a time of course and the seat moved to each respective memory. After this I pressed the seat top tilt for access and success the seat tilted as it’s supposed to.
So by default I found the way to re programme the seat tilt, so this info may be useful for others.
One good note, well a parking ticket actually which I found under the seat ( the ones you stick onto the window ) dated 25th June 2004 at South Drive Macclesfield just one month after the car was registered.
The cars only done 8,500 miles and I’ve done almost 1000 of that so that tickets been lying under the seat for 15 years so I’ve placed it in my car file as a momento.
