R230 SL500 Buying advice

I have read so many different guides with buying advice on the R230 so I know what to expect regarding roof seals, ABC, brakes etc but i have a few questions around these items that aren't covered by the guides.
Would you buy one without a documented ABC pump change?
How long do the drive by wire brakes last - is it mileage or age that defines this?
What is the accepted fix for the roof seals? Also how can I tell if this has been done?
When inspecting one is it easy to tell if the shocks are leaking?
Is there anything else i should look out for bar the obvious things that you check when purchasing a new car?

Any help or advice is much appreciated.

Not had R230 ( SL500 ) now for nearly 3 years, although did seriously consider buying the same one back again but common sense prevailed and I bought a Volvo C70 ( looking to sell that already as it just doesn't do it for me ). I did post a few threads on my experiences of many issues with the car but most were covered by a warranty....
