" Removed by cutting ". Signs of someone in a hurry to remove them.

Yes and no - aftermarket rear boxes are fitted with an adapter pipe and so the only option is to cut the originals off or replace all the centre pipework including flanges and brackets - MB even tell you to do it in the WIS guide.
