R231 badge

I'm looking to change the 57mm badge on the front of my SL and wondered if anyone knew how it is fixed in position? The badge is on top of the front grille rather than the bonnet and I cannot get to the underside to see what's there. Looking at badges for sale, some have a black attachment so I'm loathe to just try and pride the badge up if it's fixed in some way from underneath. Anyone removed the badge from a R231 and can give advice??

I would also like to know how to get to the back, I would imagine it has the two clips you push together under the badge
want the AMG badge in the other forum thread to replace the standard one

To finish this off. I looked up the badge part number on the epc and searched for it and found that it is just the flat badge with two unequal size pins. So I got some trim tools and went at my badge and with some patience I got it off, here are the pictures: -
