R23O Battery drain - Comand unit not going to sleep?

r230 lock.jpg
That lock comes in two parts, the upper part where the key goes in and the lower part which is the latching part, it's much more likely that the replaced the lower part, did they actually say that they replaced the lock barrel, if the did then it wouldn't have been seized up.

It was working after a liberal application of WD40 and use of a pair of pliers on the key blade as it was still rather stiff, according to the invoice from Star Motors for the service just before I got the car the boot lock barrel was replaced by them but it was absolutely stiff as hell which makes me wonder if it actually was.
Squirt some silicon grease into the lock to keep it free.

Just checked and says free off lock barrel and replace lock mechanism. Whichever part it was it was still exceedingly stiff.
After being on charge all night my battery showed 12.55 volts an after coming off charge and 12.47 an hour further on, disconnected from the car. Not sure that's enough is it even though it's classed as a 12 volt battery?

I'm stuck at work so I can't check it too regularly but as off 4.30 pm the battery, which is now reconnected, is showing 11.95 volts.
Not as big a drop as I thought it would be but 5 1/2 hours to go before I finish work. If I can get the boot open without having to start the car I'll check it again before I leave for home.

I'm not a battery expert but that does seem low for a fully charged battery.

12.7V is fully charged, 12.5v is 80%. Not looking too good.

I checked it with my multi meter again around 8.30 and it was 11.95, I drove the 5 miles home which I appreciate isn't far and I don't usually use the car for such short journeys but when I got home with everything off it was showing 12.36 volts which doesn't sound great?

It’s hard to diagnose the battery while there is a drain, that is a serious fault, are you in a position to bring the car back to the seller to have the fault rectified, did you buy from a dealer or was it private sale?

Dec, I bought it from Chiltern Motors in Reading and Martin there is a top bloke but 135 miles away, straight away he agreed for me to get it booked in with my local Indy and get it sorted out but they couldn't get it in until tomorrow. I was just trying to eliminate any silly things if any other members had suffered similar problems and knew of anything simple that may be causing the Comand to not shut down.
It may be as simple as a combination of an old battery and the after market USB/iphone lead or Parrot blue tooth is creating problems with the Comand?

It’s likely it is something to do with whoever fitted after market kit, that Command would have two lives going to it, a permanent live to retain memory and a live only when ignition is on, perhaps the mixed up the two lives.

I’m minded of the adage - track back to the last thing that was changed.

Sadly I have no idea and the dealer I bought it from doesn't either as the car was fitted with them when he took it in and when I bought it, the battery was obviously charged when the dealer got it and we put the low battery down to the time it had been at his dealership. When I got home it had charged up again and everything was fine and didn't show up until the next day. Hopefully tomorrow the diagnostics may throw up something, I'm not sure how the lives could get switched I took the Comand unit out today and disconnected the adaptor harness for the Parrot and connected all the original leads to the Comand and sure enough the fan on the Comand came straight on without the unit being switched on?

Well Prestige Car Repairs ran a diagnostic check on the car as best they could but even with a battery stabiliser on the car the battery was low so the their suggestion was to replace the consumer battery as they would need the car to have a battery that can hold a charge before they can determine if there is any further fault. I find it always pays to speak to the main dealer to get a price on parts and they came up trumps today with a price £33 less than my local tyre & exhaust centre for a recognised brand battery.
Now to see whether the new battery cures the problem, hopefully it will. :)

I paid £95 for an AGM battery from MB Grangemouth. I think they have now gone up to about £130.

I don't know how long ago you bought yours but I paid £137.76, my local tyre/exhaust battery place had quoted me £170.

Well having left the car overnight and all day I returned home form work today and thought I'd best check the battery rather than just assume a new battery had solved the issue. Sadly it appears that whilst the new battery has lasted longer, the old one was definitely goosed, the drain is still there as the battery was reading 11.9 volts so it will be back to Prestige Car Repairs now at least we know the battery is ok once charged to try and get to the bottom of this. The Comand is not going to sleep as although the screen is off the fan on the back continues to run so something is keeping the system awake. :(

You said the car has Parrot bluetooth insralled, does that connect to the COMAND and if so does it power down when the car is off? Even if it isn't connected to COMAND does it turn off with the car?

Two things Prestige did say when they tried to run the diagnostics was that for some reason Canbus was not showing up, although clearly it's working or everything on the car wouldn't working. They also showed me that Comand was saying TV not found, it has no TV, could it be that the system is continually searching for something that's not there hence why t's not going to sleep? The said about fitting a connector to close the loop in the fibre optic system if a new battery didn't resolve the problem, which it hasn't but it obviously helps that the battery isn't being pulled down so quickly.

What year is the car?
If you don't lock the car and remove the key from ignition, will the fan still run after 5 minutes?
