First couple of days of ownership and no problems, today going over a slow speed bump, as I accelerated away, normal speed nothing heavy with the right foot, the car was sluggish as if the brakes were on and then a sound like I was driving over a corrugated surface for a few seconds. Car felt like it was stuck in top gear, no acceleration and no kickdown either. Steering wheel button worked to get it into 2nd, but when I reset that to auto, still felt like stuck in top.

I was very close to home, and when I went to reverse, no gear, put it into drive, no gear. Put it into park and then reverse, it worked. Reversed it into my drive, then tried drive again ,once again felt like it was stuck in top.

Switched it off restarted, everything back to normal, went for a test drive - all fine. Could it be engine mounts?

Immediate thoughts are it's low ATF or the electro-plate in the auto box failing. Cycling the IGN resetting the fault is classic speed sensor (part of the electro-plate) failing. Eventually the box will stay in limp mode. When was the ATF last changed?

Get the car on STAR, there will be stored codes. Not a hugely expensive fix.

I agree with the above post, with the problems you have had there should be stored codes, but sometimes with just a occasional need to switch off and restart codes are not stored, but as above get it to a Indy and onto a Star.

If you have only had it a few days, you now know why the PO sold it...

I'd certainly go back to the dealer and ask him what's going on..

Had enough of Mercs. Going to buy something reliable.
