Rebuilt my own 722.6

For a 163.113 and my EPC has:

Seal ring A 006 997 01 47 optional with A 009 997 48 47

I'm a little new to MB so am not quite sure what the EPC term 'optional with' actually means. One would hope they are simply alternatives, but this is MB.

Impressed to buggery and not intention of ever attempting such a thing myself

Ok shes back on the road and upto now running very nicely, unfortunatly my co worker has the star in his van so i got a freind poping over for a plug in and adaption as all the valves got changed in the valve block and want to make sure its 100%. Did have a little problem when i first took it out on a test drive when it got hot it went it limp mode but i quickly reliased that i had overfilled the trans by 1.5 ltrs. I flushed the cooler snd thought it take more oil than it needed. Other than not having the radio call but a quick call to my local dealer and that was sorted in 2mins for free! Would i do this again? Oh yes! It was fun if im honest and iv learned alot about the 772.6. Plus i know whats been done, i dread to think how many people have paid for an overhaul but just got a new valve body or worse valve body repair. I did ring around before i went and stripped my trans and most company's just wanted to either sell me a recon trans or rebuild mine. I thought at the start of this project that if it all went wrong il just take this box of bits (excuse the pun) to a specialist and get them to sort it but with a little time it was very straight forward and i strongly recommend if you have the means to remove the trans to do it your self, dont bother buying a unit from a breakers yard you can rebuild your cheaper and with uprated parts.

Well Done DieselPete, that was some job !!!! I know that this post is more than 1 year old, but how has it been since? Sweet as a nut, or did you have some niggling problem's to sort out?
Again, Congratulations !!!! :)

Hi there , I need to overhaul my 2008 c220 valve body . Where can you get a kit for the overhaul. It a 722.6 transmission. And after the new parts do I need to plug it in star or something similar to reset ? Thanks

I will hold my hands up to you here in salute.

I am great at taking things apart, usually when that was never the intention. The worst sound known to man is "beeeooing". I hear that sound a lot.

Cir-clips become aeronautical marvels in my garage. Small nuts and screws have mastered the art of camouflage to the point of stealth. My cars undertray has more tools lying on it than Harlfords on a Sale day.

To me a gear box is where miracles happen. Like a woman's vagina it looks good from the outside only.
Suffering from the same mysteriously vanishing parts syndrome..I bought a few magnetic trays and a magnetised 18"bar, which I use like a sweeping brush
And it has reduced the problem considerably.

im not joking if you take your time, buy a decent socket and bit set from say halfords you could do this and save yourself a fortune. here is the parts break down, this is also where i got all my parts from. If anybody requires the shop manaul pls send me your e-mail and il send it to you its very good.
