Hi,

I have a promotional video clip that someone has made for me, the file is in 2 formats mpg (237mb & AVI 388mb).

I need to upload it to youtube but there is a limit of 100mb per file.

Are there any programs (free) that can reduce its size without losing to much quality? I have PhotoShop CS2 - anyway to do it in that?

Cheers

Both formats are already compressed, you would either need to resize the video content to make smaller or, use a program to split the content up into smaller files

PC...

I have it on a DVD aswell, with all the .dat files and the like (I know nothing about video editing)

Try DVDShrink to reduce the size of the DVD video (you can specify what size you want the output file) but you will inevitably lose a lot in reducing it by 60%

Quicktime Pro is great for compressing video. There is a PC version for £20 here:

Cheers, but if I cant find one for free Ill have to ask the guy who created it to make a new one.

DVD strink can only take it to 132mb

Try Bink and Smacker, you should be able to resize and drop frames with this prog, used a lot in games and you can adjust your compresssion, only saves as avi last time i used it... may have been updated

If you do use it.... use the microsoft codec for compression as eveyone uses although you'll get a big list of codecs

You can run DVDShrink on it's own output
