If you've saved it onto your desktop it should appear with an icon that looks like Remote Desktop Connection (if your not sure what that looks like go to Start/All Programs/Accessories/communication) - It's a kind of Blue monitor with a satellite dish behind it!

If you right click on it you'll be able to choose edit and save all the settings you need to make your connection. Then left clicking should run Remote Desktop Connection using your settings.

See how you get on with it & post again if you need more help - may not get back to you stright away - I've got to go and celebrate with our Italian friends!!

How about a webmail client ? or FTP from command line ?

When you run MSTSC have you selected the Disk drive option , then just saved the connection ?

I haven't saved it onto my desktop. It's one of five RD connections I have, all as batch files and all in a toolbar on my taskbar.

Each one is a connection to a different IP address, and the username and passwords are all different.

Even if it were on my desktop as an icon, each time I used it, I'd need to change the IP and the username, and I can't be bothered trying to remember them all, which is why I created the batch files.

I don't understand how a webmail client would help, or FTP for that matter.

Bear in mind as I said before, I can't map drives, and I can't install anything on the server.

That's what I suggested originally - log on to Yahoo (or Hotmail, or whatever) from your session on the remote machine. Attach the file to an email, then send it to any email address you can access from your local PC.

Fine for ad hoc transfers, that's what we used to do before we could map the local hard disk from within the remote desktop session.

Aaahh...

Sorry all, I was being dense. I'll try that.

Sorry this is me being obtuse. The rdp files work just the same way as your batch files, you can set up as many as you want ('tom's computer', '****'s computer', 'harry's computer' etc.) and each will retain it's own unique settings (including password if you want). The advantage over the batch file is you can also forward connections to your local drives, printers etc.
