Removing blemishes from chrome painted trim

I thought you had staff to do that sort of dirty work.šŸ¤£
šŸ‘€šŸ˜

I do have a detailer but I found this Gyeon Preserve in the garage the other night so I thought Iā€™d give it a go on some faded trim on a car which rarely gets the full works - itā€™s my snow car which I love dearly and recently pulled out of hibernation.

It worked so well that I got carried away and applied it to every clean car I have at home. Unfortunately they all now have ā€œgreaseā€ marks on the paintwork where I was a little too generous with the generous application of the miracle product.

When my detailer arrived this morning he asked Mrs D what on earth I had done! šŸ˜

Heā€™s not back until Sunday now so the cars Iā€™ll take to an event on Friday and BOTG on Saturday will look like they have had a waterless wash with a Doner kebab wrapper, but at least the milk etched aluminium on the car Iā€™m not taking will look ace! šŸ˜

I can hear the conversation now.
ā€œCould you please tell Mr D to leave the detailing to me, he should stick to advertising coffee capsulesā€

Well, after trying all sorts on previous cars with the same problem, I decided to dedicate some time this week for this particular problem on my 2020 A35. Autosol had always been my 'go to' for 'chrome ' polish, which I'd tried previously, but no good. So, I bought a kit of 3" polishing pads which you attach to a drill, and tried them, starting with the softest. I eventually had to use the hardest pad...And it worked !! I have 3 strips on each window, and I must admit it wasn't easy, approx 25 mins per window, but all the Oxidation has has gone :-) The 'chrome' strips now actually look like chrome. I took some before and after pics, but unfortunately, I couldn't get any decent ones :-( Hope this helps :)

Sounds like a good job well done. Do let us know whether the finish lasts.

Spooky that this thread has been updated because I was going
Early days but chemical damage on aluminium roof bars disappeared on application, and 24 hours later there is no sign of the etchings reappearing.

Spooky that this thread has been updated because I was about to do the same about Gyeon Preserve. On Saturday the car was washed for the third time since application five weeks ago and you could see faint etching on the aluminium trim.

Itā€™s probably fair to say that reapplication monthly is about right for this particular car. My detailer will apply again after the next wash which will probably be in around 2 weeks time, and will then be almost 2 months since first application.

Well, it's been a couple of months now, and apart from the last couple of weeks, the weather has been shocking ! However, I'm pleased to say the chrome strips still look as brand new. I've put a couple of coats of wax on them, so whether that helped or not I don't know. Fingers crossed !!

I have used this on my badly stained black trim (night edition).....it seems to have done the job.......got it on Amazon.

My trims where very badly oxidised.........collected th car yesterday morning and spent about an hour in my drieway when I got home.
