Replaced the gearbox

Hello guys ,
I came here with a E280 a couple months ago with limp mode .I took the car for repair,Gearbos was fault and needed a new one .
The garage cant code it ,can anyone advice how much is it likely to cost to get my gearbox coded.
Actually i dont know what it means .

Well nyemba you have had a new gearbox fitted to your car at a garage that does not have a Star diagnostics ,you are braver than me,or did you have the speed plate replaced rather than the whole gearbox,you need Star,because the box and the speed plate need to be coded to the cars ECU,I suspect you will need to have the car moved by transporter to a local mercedes indy,to get the box coded,if you put your location somebody will suggest a indy for you to use.

i had the car put on star box and it suggested gearbox,
then i got the gear box fitted.

the company called Prestige are Merc specialist online reviews,but cant code the car ,and said i have to put a new ECU- why do i need a new ecu when the one on it working .if its a speed plate ,how much roughly mate .

I am in a limpo.meantime he has fitted replacement box and new ecu and says will be ready next week .will update you once i know the situation.

While it is not impossible that both the gearbox and the ECU need replacing, it is always a worry when the garage claims to have found two unrelated faults. The only solution is to work with garages you trust.... Good luck with the repair.
