I was fooled for a little bit, this is one replica that really looks the part. I'm sure that in person the size would give it away.

There are quite a few 355 replica MR2's around. The size definitely does give the game away when you see one in the flesh. The other give away is that the front lights are set way too far back (i.e. in their standrd MR2 position), check the picture again and you'll see what I mean.

Ferrari replica? more Ferrari wannabee - bit too naff I think!

Agree, sad and naff! Although I am sure a lot of time and money went into making it look OKish!

I see what you mean about the lights and yes, sad very sad. I've seen alot of replicas in the US using the Pontiac Fiero . . . .YUK!!!!!

Thats the same as the people with the kit car replicas of cobras etc  .
Why
OK they cant afford a real one ;)
Problem is most of them have 2litre engines that sound crap:crazy:

The thing is though, if you start with a decent donor car, re-build the engine, and spend loads on a special body kit, get it fitted and finally re-sprayed, have'nt you spent nearly the same as buying a REAL second-hand Ferrari? Maybe not a 355 (too new) but how about an older 308 (can be had for less than £25k) or even a 328. Same goes for a replica Porsche.

You are spot on with that. A mate whos just finishing a countess (lambo look-a-like) :D (with a rover v8) has spent a fortune on it.
He could have bought a nice car with the money he's spent on it.
Its a good job his wife thinks its cost him next to nothing

It's not wide enough, they never are. Kit cars of supercars are never wide enough.

The inquisitive side of me wants to see a picture. My stomach urges me not to.

Its to small. The lights are way to far back and the windscreen is the wrong shape.

What a waste of cash!!!! why would anyone do this?? I bet the insurance costs aint that far or the real thing either!!!

Stu

Those MR2s fly in turbo form!

I had one few years back (my nearing 30 stage) and it was tweaked to 320bhp. Mine was untouched (body wise) but just as fast, if not a little quicker than the motor that one apes.

Imagine the insurance claim on one that's been modded?????? Ouch.
