Hello

I recently bought CLK A209 and got only one key. Time ago I owned w208, and keys were a big issue. I guess, a/w209 have the same issue, right? Is there any indy workshops that replicated/duplicate keys, or I anyway need to talk with MB? Looking in London, SW

thank you

Alex Foti is probably the closest to make you a key.

thanks.

Does anyone know: is there difference between a KG key and non-KG go one? I realised that the key I have is non-original. Maybe it is an actually reason why KG doesn't detect the key

If I'm correct in interpreting KG and non-KG as keyless go, then the difference is that non-KG is far more difficlt to nick and thus preferable, especially in London postcode areas! Personally, it's something that would put me off buying a car - but I'm an old fart!

BTW, Alex Foti is trustworthy, so worth a call, he's in the middle of nowhere near Paddock Wood (look him up on Google Maps) and if you decide to visit get the code for the entrance gate from him by text to your mobile, there's no "AMF Automotive" sign at the gate, just the name of the farm!!

With the keyless go button you can easily remove it and just insert the key providing extra layer of security.

His is old school Keyless Go.

You will need to go to the dealer for a new key.

When buying older cars with Keyless Go, you need to make sure both keys are present and working before handover your cash. Otherwise you will have a headache to deal with on the key side.

I have keyless go on my sl55 however although I have two keys one of the keys is missing the transponder...the little glass chip that is inside the plastic key case.
This is a pain when I pick up the wrong keys.
There is a key doctor in Doncaster who is mobile and I was going to ask him to fit me a new transpomder....his prices are realy good and being mobile makes my life so much easier.
My point here is I stead of going to the main dealer look up a Key Doctor in your area...there will be one near you and hopefully save you some money.

I had a key cut and programmed for my 125th edition Viano and it was only £75 job done.

£225 plus vat at the main dealers.
Happy days
