Hello all,
on a Glc220d 2019
Just joined up and wanted to ask about retuning and taking back control of the car,

Can any one out there, in the uk, re programme the computer so that I do not have to push all the buttons every time i get in it so I can drive it my way.

that is to say : 1. turning off the warning bleepers for front and rear when near any thing,
2.turning off the "engine off when stopping " all the time ,
3. setting the drive program to sport rather than normal?
I expect most of you will think Im mad but I still prefer to feel im driving the car rather than it trying to think my every move as well?
Can any one help or is this impossible?
Thanks

1.turn attention assist to minimum , I don't think you can turn it off fully. Sounds like yours is set to maximum.

Turn off parking sensors if it's beeping in confined spaces . But isn't that the whole point of them ??

2. Select individual drive mode , in there you can choose , to turn off stop start , have steering set to sport , drive mode to sport I think , climate control to eco. When done press on Adapt.

Each time you get in simply select individual mode and drive away.

I thought that you couldn't permanently deactivate Stop/Start in any vehicle? 🤔

Dunno about Mercs, but you can relatively easily code it out on a BMW; although it's not really a hardship to press the button when you start the car

I knew about the button (have it on the X1), wasn't aware it was easy to code out 👍

Not officially, no. But there are unofficial hacks available for most cars (uploaded via the OBDII port) to change the default setting of Stop/Start to either 'off' or to 'remember last position' - the latter simply doesn't automatically reset it back to 'on' when the engine is restarted, so it remains as it was when the engine was last turned off.

Is it as easy to also code the indicators 'IN' 😂

Welcome.

On a general note, unlike BMW cars, MB cars can't be easily codes or reprogrammed using DYI tools.

Some of the car's default settings can be changed in ways that are not possible via the user menus on the dash, but this requires MB STAR diagnostic computer (Xentry), which typically only franchised dealers and independent MB specialists will have.

It also requires a skilled operator, because there's a myriad of options and unless you know in which subsection of the menu to look you may never find the right tick box to enable or disable the feature you want (not helped by the fact that the text describing the options appear to have been translated from German using Google Translate..).

www.comandonline.co.uk have both the equipment and expertise to do this for you, but it obviously comes at a price.

It's official with mercedes . Mine allows it . 👍

Not unless the car has been modified... The reason that it's ON my default at engine startup is because otherwise it cannot be used when testing for official mpg and emissions. The car may only use efficency improving or emissions reducing systems if they are ON by default (even if the driver can turn them off after the engine was started).

BTW, Launch and other mid-range diagnostic tools can do some coding on MB cars, for example it can be used to permanently deactivate Stop/Start, but it can't be used to change how Stop/Start works.

I've already explained how by using individual mode . It was introduced into mercedes around 2018. It's not a modification. The car reverts back to comfort mode with stop start activated, but by selecting individual mode it's turned off until the next ignition cycle. I don't physically have to turn stop start off , I simply select my driving mode .

Something the op asked for , can he set up the car to go into sports mode with no stop start , each time he gets in . Instead of pressing lots of buttons. 👍👍

Understood. The point being, that you still need to press something after engine startup, or Start/Stop will be ON? I.e., Individual Mode is not 'remembered' when you switch off the engine?

I think I answered the ops initial question. Hopefully it'll help .
