C Class 250 CDI estate
I currently have a w204 estate in manual and would love the cruise control option (please no comments on why would I want cruise or buy a car that already has it)and so purchased a squib ring stalk set from eBay.
Trouble is now that my steering wheel buttons no longer illuminate or even work.
All I have done at the moment is completely swap the entire stalk set with my old one,I haven't had it coded yet.
My model is a 2010 and the new one is from a 2012 model,I know it's a facelifted stalk and therefore should be used on a facelifted steering wheel but I can't really see any reason why it won't work.
I know that when people retrofit the facelifted wheel onto a pre facelift they have illumination troubles on the buttons so is it a similar problem?
Other wise do I need to buy a cruise stalk from a pre facelifted one a put that on,it's getting expensive!
Is there a way of changing the internals?

Obviously you're more technically minded than me but of all the modifications I wouldn't do this one would be top of my list....I love cruise control and use it a lot but I'm not sure I'd ever trust it if it was retro fitted.

The reason there are illumination problems with steering wheel swaps is the wiring and the chipboard, but you haven't messed with any of those just changing the stalks I don't think?

I'd say you'd need a FL column for that stalk

Cruise

As retrofits go it's not that bad,command do these relatively often so it's clearly doable.im just looking for a cost effective way of making it work,I didn't think that using a fl stalk would cause a problem on a non fl car!
I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for a 2007-2010 estate set of stalks pah!

Anyone know of one knocking about?

There are a myriad of different sets of stalk/switchgear. Best way to add cruise is with the proper parts for your car;

If you know the correct part number, then I have found this site to be great site to look for approved used parts. I mainly source my retrofit parts from here and they have always look like new.

It's all very well showing a link to command online but they are hardly likely to list the parts and numbers for all to see!
If I knew the numbers it would be great,does anyone know?
