Hi have a 2001 CLK 230 compressor 208 vert.

The reversing lights aren't working, the local garage reckons the feed coming out of the gearbox has a signal, which then goes off to the instrument cluster, and then onto the rear lights.

Had advice from other forum suggesting two feeds come from the gearbox, one to the rear lights and one to the instrument cluster, so wondered if anybody else thinks differently, and advice on possible fixes

This might be of help (?)

Have you tried wiggling the body to boot lid cable? The wires on other models seem to get really tight and snap after a while.

First thing we did was check the wiring at the boot lid. I need to find which wire comes out of the box to actuate the lights. Does it go straight to the lights or does it go via the instrument panel or are they two separate feeds etc?

Yes, the backup lamp switch is wired to the light module and the backup lamp is wired directly from the light unit.
