Right Car, Wrong Colour.

Whilst a respray will hurt the resale value, I am not one of the people that subscribe to the idea that a mass produced Mercedes is in any way an appreciating asset. I will buy it to enjoy and accept the costs involved.

I think some of the smaller cars can look really good in white, especially convertibles with black hoods or pano roofs. But for me, the CL is too big to pull it off.

I love white cars although my current car is Hyacinth Red.

My view is a bit different than most and if it’s in super condition and specified to your requirements then I would buy it.

The problem at the moment is the shortage of cars in the used market and if it is a rare car then someone may well snatch it up.

My current car I had to drive 5 1/2 hours to get it as one of my requirements was Saddle Brown leather interior whereas most cars at the moment have black interiors.

If you really don’t like it though that’s a deal breaker.

We all if we’re honest look back at our chosen as we walk away, and if you’re not going to be happy with anything about your choice, then don’t part with your hard earned.
PS. IMHO that CL is one stunning bit of kit.

It's not just white, it's Designo Diamond White and looks beautiful and classy, especially when the light catches it just right. My car is Diamond White and it's the colour of choice for me - but each to his own. You will be looking at the outside a lot more than the inside so it's really important to get it in the colour you really like. I wouldn't consider a respray or wrap as they would have to be done perfectly (at a hefty expense) and would more than likely have a negative impact on the resale value. But your money, your choice so go with your gut feeling! I think it's a real beauty.

Not a fan of black interiors, but the pan roof will keep it looking light and airy.
Sensible to take a look. 😉

Looks the dogs in white, stands out in a crowd and makes a pleasant change from the other boring colours.

Erm ...

White cars: the cons

It’s a really common colour

You’re not alone if you think white is a great colour for your car – 17.2% of all new cars sold in the UK in 2021 were painted in a shade of white. As a result, while it’s clearly a popular colour, white may not be for you if you’re after a hue that will help your car stand out in a crowded supermarket car park.

Thanks all, this is the car in question; CL63

They hardly ever come up for sale which is why I am questioning it. You all have very good points, the search continues.
It looks great in white, the best thing about white is that it masks the chrome window trims.

I like white especially with black. I think a 212 with the black pano roof and night pack looks particularly good.

Saddle brown are sadly very rare in mercs in the uk, would also have liked to have that colour, but as I said very very rare.

I generally buy a car on condition and spec. I am usually not too bothered by the colour.

Red wasn't my 1st colour choice of my current car however even 6 months later I haven't managed to find one with the same spec 😵

Plus the red has grown on me and I quite like it now.

See that doesn't look like white to me? Looks more like a pearl colour - which I absolutely love on some cars and that CL suits it (in my opinion of course).

Same as my 204 it is a pearl white -

That Carwow piece also states: "White is the most popular car colour in the world, and has been since 2011".

One thing you won't do is stand out from the more common colours, then...
