Right Car, Wrong Colour.

That Carwow piece also states: "White is the most popular car colour in the world, and has been since 2011".

One thing you won't do is stand out from the more common colours, then...
Same as most vans default to white. White is the most popular colour for very practical reasons.
An example would be,: anyone who has used a heavily coloured box van will be able to attest to the fact that white (or silver, but that is a more expensive finish) is better from a thermal transfer perspective. Having a Dark Blue box van in high sunshine countries would be almost suicide.

Whenever I look for cars it's type, spec, and price at the top of the list. Condition and mileage are considerations but colour is not really on the radar unless it is really offensive. I also know I'm not a typical buyer as it is what the car does, not how it looks, is much the more important to me.
But I guess that's just an engineer's perspective.

Not to mention that on most cars and vans solid white is a no cost option, is a good background for signwriting. And of course the big plus on cars is that it hides supermarket pings and other small dents really well (completely the opposite to black where the light around the slightest mark draws your eye to it). Also very easy to touch up and polish out stone chips and the like too. That said out of my 35 to 40 cars I can only remeber one white one.....a 1976 Mk2 Ford Capri 1.6...with black vinyl roof of course!! Not this one but identical!

White 20 years ago was reserved for vans and cheap cars as it was a zero cost option. Think of base spec peugeots and vauxhalls. It then became something of a fad in the early noughties

White is £675 on a Honda now....it is pearl though.

Erm ...

Not sure that there are many C63s in white, hence my comment. Come to think of it, I don't see all that many MB in white, grey and silver seem to be the popular choices.

Same as my 204 it is a pearl white -

W204 pearl white stunning colour

I've had a couple on mk3 cortina's of that vintage and colour scheme 😁

I remember some of my Dad's early cars (Austin 1800 Landcrab etc) that were often white and when they were getting a bit old he'd clean them with Ajax powder! Used to come up very clean to be fair, though they lost a bit of shine!

Looking at all new and used cars currently for sale on the MB UK website, the most common colours are black followed by grey and white. Green, yellow or brown are the colours to go for if you want to stand out :D

My only one was a 1971/J Vauxhall Viva HC 1100 L 2-door :)

One bad thing about white is it *really* shows rust :D

So much for perception! :oops:Maybe we have all the grey and silver and few of the whites in Lincolnshire. 🤣
I still think that the C63 in white is awesome.

Not that long ago we were in a dealership car park somewhere (Ascot, I think) and Mrs BTB commented that you could take a black & white picture and it would look the same! Every single car was black, white or grey (maybe a couple of silvers, but that's basically grey :D). Not a single 'colour' to be seen.

Not a fan of white cars myself but IMO white looks better if it has a black contrast to break it up. White and chrome doesn’t do it for me.

OP, seems like the whites have it, after the early votes against. Your best bet would be to have a look for yourself, and then make the decision.

I'm not that fussy about colour ....not keen on green.... and black is impossible to keep looking good......but the current (and hopefully soon to pass) fad of mat paint has the ability to make even the classiest car look cheap.
I'd far rather have the right car in the wrong colour than the other way around.
