Just bought a 2000 e320cdi estate. Lovely car but has a bit of rust. I'm after any advice from anyone who's been in a similar situation.
The car has a full MB service history, so I took it to the dealer for a service and to view the rust. They looked at the car and told me that MB would not consider a claim against them under the warranty until I had owned the car for at least 6 months? They say it covers them against people who buy a car, then try to get it repaired free only to sell it on. I told them that I'm happy with the car and intend to keep it long term. I'm not looking for them to repair all the rust at their cost as there has obviously been an element of neglect in the past, however the rust under the door seals is not down to neglect. Still, they say they will not consider it until 6 months from now. As far as I'm aware, 6 months minimum ownership is not a condition of the anti-perforation warranty.
I now intend to write to MB and ask them politely to reconsider.
