Thanks to everyone for your assistance. I managed to get a DVD that worked for my NTG1 system on Ebay.

I have a 2003 facelift W220 with the NTG1 navigation system. recently it started saying 'Navigation being activated, please wait', so i wait around 5 minutes and it came up 'No DVD avaliable, Please insert navigation DVD'. So i thought that the disc may be unreadable because when i took it out it was scratched to death also bearing in mind the disc was also from 2003. so i ordered a 2019 updated NTG1 Navigation DVD version 19. I put it in the reader in the boot, turned my comand on and the same thing happened.
one thing i thought of is the fact i replaced the instrument cluster as the original blacked out. ive read thats a common fault on W220's
would that be the problem or is it something else?

The most likely issue is a failed CD drive in the boot... you can try cleaning it, but otherwise see if you can find a second hand one on eBay..
