Hi all,
The sunroof in my car has worked faultlessly in my ownership of the car - until now.
It's stuck open with a gap of about 15 cms. It slides effortlessly back and forward from fully open until it gets to this point, and then it won't budge. The motor is still 'trying' though. Yesterday, it got to this point but would go further with a bit of switch-flicking until there was a gap of about 4 cms, but now I'm stuck at 15 cms.
The plastic nut attached to the motor has disintegrated and the tiny metal piece underneath, although twistable with a small spanner, won't budge with the amount of pressure I'm prepared to put on it (I think it would just 'round off'). I've also tried hitting the motor while the roof goes back and forth, and I can't see any obstructions in the roof.
Help please (before it starts raining!)

I had a roof stuck open issue on our SLK but it was electrical. Best I can suggest is to follow the procedure for manual closing in the handbook before the rain comes.

Thanks for your replies but I can't close it manually. The plastic nut that you need to turn on the motor spindle has disintegrated and the small metal bit behind it can only be turned with a very small spanner and I daren't apply any more pressure than I've tried already - it simply doesn't feel like it would turn before it shears off.
