S210 lights not working

Firstly apologies if this has been answered but I can't get the search feature to work (using smart phone?)
2002 e320 estate, so has canbus. The passenger rear reverse light is in op. I've replaced yhe bulb and cleaned the holder but no joy. So every time it goes into reverse it beeps at me!
Also the front fog lights didn't work. The wires which go to them had broken at the light. I tried joining them again (bypassing the black plug and just crimped not soldered) but again nothing. And again it beeps at me! I also replaced the bulbs while there.
Any help with these problems would be great.

Are you getting 12V in bulb sockets?

In fog light there is 'resistor' or some kind of graphic filter about 20-30 cm from holders. This ages and stops passing current through (you may get voltage reading by multimeter but when bulb needs few amps, nothing happens).

If tail gate bulbs are not working, it's always worth to check wires over the hinge...

Thanks for that. Will check it out. See the fog light filter - can this be bypassed or is there a way of repairing or replacing it?
