S212 - where are they

Just as I decide I really want an E63 S212, 2014 model they have all evaporated.
What has happened to them - Mercedes approved used have 2 available in the country, Autotrader have nearly as many.
Has the market dried up all of a sudden; I had hoped that following the new registration year, there would be more around, but wrong again - just as well I can wait

But how many do you think are out there....

Fifty? In the whole country? .... Even if they were on 36 month contracts, they won't be "back in the system" until later in 2017

Whilst I recognise and agree with the truth of your reply, I had hoped for a few more 36 month contracts to run out in March. Ah well, fingers crossed for September'ish

Tis one of the features of the Net....

The forums are full of chat about the special / rare models, but they give a false impression of just how many of these cars are around... especially if you think that they might only come up for sale once every....36? months on average...

And then not necessarily in the spec, condition or mileage that you want...

Very true, MIW. I think I overestimated the number on the market when I first started looking and have missed out on two which met my criteria, because I hesitated.
Fortunately, this is a 'want' purchase rather than a necessity and I am ready (if not happy) to wait until the right colour, spec and priced model comes along - hopefully sooner rather than later, though.

Just wait....I did.
I dropped dead lucky as mine was only 12 months old, right colour, spec etc....so they do exist .
the problem is, the owners that bought them probably won`t part with them as they are sooooooo brilliant ! As you say, the ex lease ones should be coming through over the next few weeks....

Try registering with Manheim and BCA and look through their listings, its where the dealers and used car shops source their ex lease cars....

No, sir, not my car

An interesting spin on it, I suppose. It's not your ad is it?

:D

No st13phil, my W211 / E500 is the silver one in the photo. 25mpg in SW London. That counts as "Green," doesn't it? (But my S500 is greener.)

If you're waiting, I know of a nice Black S which will be avaliable when S213's hit sensible prices :thumb:

Good man! I have a feeling they'll hold their value better than the S212, despite the higher list price when new.

Not had the pleasure of driving one yet, but I'll be watching with interest - 4matic version is appealing despite RWD being the enthusiasts choice.

This 2010 S212 E500 estate appeared this morning.

Well-specified, 53k and a snip at £17k

Think of it as an E63 for Ecologists

Did you have to post that, you ratbag? Just when I was getting over the E55K... And it's in Tanzanite blue, too. Drool Drool...

What engine is in it? Not the last hurrah of the M113, I suppose?

Thank you. I think the price is a bit steep, but the E500 is pretty rare, so hard to establish anything like a 'going rate' for. What is the M273 like to drive - bags of low end torque like the M113, or (relatively) cammy like the 6.3 V8? I really, REALLY liked the power characteristics of the 55K.

Thanks to all for the replies. Just to prove how fickle I am, I've also seen an S63 which looks awesome - now to convince myself I don't need an estate car. Maybe start by telling everyone else to do their own fetching and carrying !
