S320 B service £72

I just phoned quick fit to find the price for an oil and filter change. Told them its a Merc and that I wanted Mobile 1 oil used. The quote £24.95, seems too good to be true.

Hi

As some of you may know my water pump packed up in France and MB fixed it for me in a hotel car park, inquisitive as i am i phoned the local dealer when i got home asking for a price for the same job....

France MB cost £287
Local MB £ 513

Need i say more.

South West Mercedes have just quoted me, £299.99p for a B service plus £39.99p for a brake fluid change, cheaper than my local dealer, still say it's a lot of money for an oil and filter change, I think i'd like to see one being done to see how much time is really spent.

They only take off diagonally oposite 1x front & 1x rear wheels, not even that if they can see brake pads through the wheel,
never trust a FSH car on the stamps alone, many people do not have the extras done and only pay for the stamp in the book. servicing is so lax now that serious faults often go unnoticed.

I only pay for the stamp and don't get the extras done. No point , im not keeping the car good for the next person out of my wallet.

Be careful, i've yet to find one of these type of outfits that can change a tyre without getting something wrong, ie damaged wheel nuts, rims or poorly balanced tyre/wheel assy. seriously considering buying my own equipment to change/balance tyres. certainly wouldn't allow them to touch my engine or steering/suspension.

My point excactly, you get top price on trade in, because you have the stamp, this is why i buy high mileage cars cheap, based on condition not history i then bring the service up to date regardless ie brake fluid change (an absolute must if you value you and yours safety, old fluid will always let you down in extreme circumstances, just when you need them most) residual value doesn't bother me, what i pay for a car is what i'm willing to lose, if i get good service from it and a bit back it's a bonus, the last one i made money on!!! with no history and 12 previous owners, bills for the four years i had it totalled £700 including tyres, bargain?
