I gave my S320 (2000) to a garage to replace two front tyres, and he kept the car overnight. He left key in ignition and flattened battery.

Next day I got into the boot for them to jump start. Car would not jump start, and so replacement battery fitted.

Car started but as soon as throttle pressed runs very lumpy. Tried driving it but will not change gear.

Is there a manual reset/trick for this gearbox. Cannot get to specialist dealer without trailer pick up.

thanks for any help

It sound like the throttle flap needs re-setting. Turn the ignition on to position 2 and leave it turned on for a few minutes and then turn it off for a few. It should re-start without any problems. If it doesnt work try it again.

If the throttle flap re-set is unsucessful start looking elsewhere. I doubt its gearbox related it is probably engine.

Hope this helps.

I just want to say a big thankyou to you.

I have had a nightmare all weekend with so called experts and your quick and simple fix worked first time.

Many thanks, you're a star!
