So I sanded off the headlights with wet and dry sandpaper today..
They were yellow but now they are looking much better but they are still slightly cloudy.. Any got advice on how to get them clear as glass again??

I sanded them then polished then finished off with I buffing session.

How can I get the crystal clear look or is this the best they can look??

Cheers guys

Oops looks like I linked to wrong thread
Try http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/detailing/156436-meguiars-headlight-restoration-kit.html

However as it is your thread and gives quite clear answers and pictures to show results why start another thread?

If you want to be rude to people I suggest you try a different forum

not being rude i was joking  no i wont be purchasing mequirs as ive said in the previous thread..i find them too expensive too be honest. I will be looking to be some sort of polish around the £5 to £10 mark to try and get them clear

so then that would make you "smartphone" worthless wouldnt it :doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::dk::dk::dk::dk::dk::dk::dk::dk::dk::p:p:p:p:p:p:p

Yep it would, it's more like a dumb phone :D But if the UK mobile operators would get their s*it together and sort out a proper 3G network nationwide it would help :thumb:

if its the app not showing pics try clearing the cache of the app on your phone or kill the app open it again and try it again..on my android i go into application manager clear data then pics show up...

Ok :thumb:

As the kit basically consists of a polish (PlastRX) and a buffer to attach to any drill my suggestion would be to use any "paint renovating polish" with a similar mop or electric polisher to give the clarity back to the headlight.

Provided the sanding has removed all the oxidised surface a good buffing will give the results you are looking for.

I found that spending the £19 for the kit was money well spent as the headlights are like new and there is still enough polish to redo the lights numerous times if the oxidisation returns.

The PlastRx polish costs less than £10 on it's own and is somewhat different to more traditional polishes see quote below

Meguiars PlastRX plastic cleaner and polish is a easy-to-use, rich gel formula quickly restores optical clarity to both rigid and flexible clear plastics. Cutting-edge advancements in Meguiar’s® exclusive Microscopic Diminishing Abrasive™ Technology (MDAT) remove light oxidation, chemical degradation, surface contamination, stains and light surface scratches with ease.
In addition, because the microscopic diminishing abrasives breakdown as you use them, Meguiars PlastX Clear Plastic Cleaner & Polish is safe on plastic rear windows on convertible tops, aircraft windows, motorcycle fairings, face shields, headlights and taillights, instrument panels, all clear plastic boat surfaces and aquariums. Meguiar's PlastRX also contains highly water-resistant polymers. These specialized hi-tech polymers provide long lasting durable protection to keep your clear plastics clear and beautiful longer.

Good luck

My phones useless,I like doughnuts, just polish your plastic lights with a cutting compound and then all will become clear.

i used turtle wax abrasive headlight polish and sanded with wet and dry and im still not getting a clear effect as you can see although they are better.
Should i just repeat the process until they are clear or can i sand to much into the light ?? thanks

sand first then polish you will get a result, if your paper is too harsh you will not be able to loose the milky finish.

What grade of wet & dry did you use?

Keep polishing and they will come clearer. They will never look crystal clear as they are lenses.

went from 60 grit up to 400 grit then used a mild abrasive polish to finish..just had another go and they look better, i dont think i spend long enough using the 400 grit last time thats why the looked milky .

I think they will need one more go and they will be looking great..:bannana:

Use 1200 and 2000 grit to finish the sanding, then polish.
