Sat nav weirdness...

I think the car was protecting itself...Apparently there are quite a few dogs in Essex maybe it just wanted you away from them!:thumb:

Tony.

Simples Rash - 1 and 2 are explained by 3, 4 just demonstrates the female nature of things mechanical - perverse, unpredictable, bloody minded etc!!

Stay south of the river, you know it makes sense!!

Good to hear all is back to normal with minimal fuss and expense!

Hey bud,

Yes, I was pretty relieved to see the sat nav snap out of its spell on the way there.
It's not necessarily to say that there isn't a problem, but it may well have sorted itself.

And yes, no need to start pawing away at the car to find faults and no expense! :thumb:

I'll keep an eye on it.
No sense worrying about it.
I'm thinking it was a momentary glitch at the moment.
I'm sure I'll venture towards the Dartford crossing soon enough.. I'll see how the car reacts! :D

The command system does log fault codes with regards to GPS errors. GPS antenna codes come up easily when there is a fault. Sounds like they were just being lazy.

Yep, I actually wondered the same thing but don't know enough about fault logs.
As for them looking at the car, I was asking them to spend time on a car to address something that may or may not be an issue... and perhaps they weren't prepared to do that.

Still, I'm glad that I didn't need their assistance after all.

There may well be an underlying fault, but I'll just have to wait and see.

May be worth getting (or borrowing) a couple of dash hooks to see if the antenna is installed there.

From what I remember the retrofit antenna isn’t pricey so may be worth getting one if that is how the Sat nav was retrofitted in your car so if it happens again you are prepared to try it :bannana:

So, after my sat nav snapped back into life a couple of weeks back after freaking out, I optimistically hoped that it was just a glitch.

Before embarking on our Germany trip, I got the car plugged in to make sure all was well. Star picked up a fault with the antenna and also the driver's wing mirror which was not dimming.

With the sat nav appearing to be ok, I booked the car in to have the work done when we returned from Germany.

However, upon arriving in France at the start of our Germany trip, the sat nav freaked out again and remained like this for the duration of the trip

I'm currently in MB getting a new antenna fitted.

Hopefully, this will solve the problem...

New antenna fitted.
Sat nav seems fine now.
Picking up 7 satellites.

I'll keep an eye on it but hopefully it's all good now.
