Was trying to enter postcode into sat nav not all the numbers were available so we couldn't get to destination, any ideas? It's a 07 350sl ,cheers.

Maps out of date / area too new to be on the maps yet?

Loads of MB Comand satnavs only support 5 digit postcode entry - including the NTG4 in my 08 S204! It's an annoyance - you enter the first 5 characters then get a list of roads. I don't bother with it now, but use either full address entry or the map and cursors - or take my Tom Tom Go 6000 with me!

Had they not sorted postcodes by 2007? JF!

I've never not been able to find places from 5 digit postcodes, as ridiculous as it is, so I figured this was an issue with the particular destination.

I use the Sat Nav on my company iPhone now. As much as I don't like them, the Sat Nav is excellent. My car is older than Noah and his Ark now so it doesn't seem worth fixing - particularly as I hardly ever need to use SN.

Mercedes only used five digit postcodes for a long time because they have just five in Germany.

It wasnt until around 2009 that this changed with the advent of Comand NTG 2.5.

NTG1, 2, 3 and W204 NTG4 are all limited to five characters.

NTG 2.5, W207/W212 NTG4, NTG 4.5 and NTG5 all support full seven digit postcode.

* NB: Early W207/W212 NTG4 systems require a firmware update and new maps to gain this functionality.

How come W207/212 NTG4 has 7 digit postcode but W204 NTG4 cannot? When I enquired about upgrading my pre-facelift 204, you told me it was a new dashboard as well as a new Comand unit, upgrading to NTG4.5, and would cost a healthy 4 figures!!

W204 NTG4 is totally different to NTG 4.5. It does require a new dashboard, loads of parts, wiring and coding. Cheaper to buy a different car.

W207/W212 NTG4 is different from W204 NTG4.

Mercedes released a firmware upgrade for W207/W212 NTG4 that with new maps will give full seven digit postcode. They never did the same for W204.

You have a W204.

Wonder why MB updated firmware on the 207/212 but not the 204. Also wonder if a 212 or 207 NTG4 fits the dash of a 204, thus allowing 7 digit postcode on a pre-facelift 204.

Sadly no. W204 NTg4 is a totally different unit, shape etc to W207/W212 NTG4.

Dunno what NTG I have (2011 S212) as it has full postcode but misses out some house numbers. No big deal but why have (say) 18, 20, 24 and 26 but miss out 22?

:dk:

You either have W207/W212 NTG4 or possibly 4.5. Depends on when the car was built in 2011.
