Our son's 1992 200TE with 215K miles needs a new exhaust and fuel tank:eek:

Spoken to Main Dealer today and tank is NLA as is front end of exhaust. Mid section can only be obtained from Germany and no Club discount either.

Spoken to a number of breakers but no joy. If any one has either of the parts required would they drop me a pm please.

Cheers

Mike

try speed autoteille .com in Germany. they still list your tank
A1244700804 from several makers including KLOKKERHOLM from Denmark

If you decide to go second hand as Bruce suggests bear in mind most suppliers seem to list 2 types- with or without a catalytic convertor fitted- don't know the difference but presumably an exhaust clearance issue??? If you can lay your hands on a second hand one I would suggest that unless its pristine getting it professionally refurbished/cleaned before fitting.

Many thanks to everyone above for their help / input /suggestions. Really appreciated.

Mike

Quick update.

GT Exhausts gave me a contact at CES - 01244 372555 - Paul. They have all elements of the exhaust with Cats for £421.46 inclusive of VAT and delivery anywhere in UK next day if ordered by 5.00pm

Quite a hefty different from my non cat of £150 odd price for my '89 model!

When does the logbook say it was first registered? If it was before the 1st Aug '92 then at MOT time any cat should be ignored as it only has to meet the previous emissions standard of less than 3.5% CO and lots of hydrocarbons

If you get properly stuck with the fuel tank i can probably* repair and leak test it for you as long as it doesn't need doing yesterday, realistically it'd probably a week or 3 depending on my workload at the time

* assuming it's something like the filler pipe rusting through where it meets the tank and hasn't collapsed/gotten totally FUBARed

I got an exhaust for mine from Kwik fit 2 years ago- can't remember how much it was but i do remember it was cheaper than I could find anywhere else and that was fitted with a 3 year guarantee . I was pleasantly surprised how good they were at doing the job too.

Latest news:-

Tank collected from Breaker last Friday and now on it's way to Herefordshire courtesy of Shipley for £50. Point to note - wrapping the thing up, which the courier requires is a PIA.

Exhaust actually requires 2 bits not all 3 i have been told so Son is getting that locally.

Other news - there is a guy in Derby breaking a 124 200TE and he has petrol tank and exhaust currently available and cheap too.

Mike, great things are moving on, can you pm me the Derby breakers contact details? Thanks

P
