Hi, many thanks for your reply. Yes, you are correct, I have only 20 posts listed so I can't get messages :( I was thinking of just duplicating this post another ten times, but that probably wouldn't work as people would get bored reading the same post all the time :dk:

I could post this message using each word separately but then would any-one realise that they would have to take each post and connect it to the next one. A sort of James Bond code :fail

No, I will just have to get to the 30 posts first.

If you need to PM someone then contact the Admin team and ask for access. Repeating posts or breaking them up in order to increase your total will ikely see those posts removed and would just annoy people :thumb:

F.A.O ChrisA - Dublin, where cars are almost free to road-tax --- sorry, I must be on Red Dwarf with Lister and Rimmer. Have you ever considered how close to the edge the BBC were, when they named the characters in Red Dwarf - just imagine being called "Rimmer", and just for some-one who may not be sure what I am referring to, then look up "Rimming" in Google.

Anyway, to the real world - I got in touch with Gendan, from whom I bought an Ecutools ET601 error code reader, and also with Ecutools themselves, in guess where, yes - China, and Ecutools said that the ET601 is only for petrol cars. I forwarded this on to Gendan and they asked if I would sent it back to them and they will see if the communication error, that I am experiencing, will come back.

In fairness to Gendan, they told me that they had come across a problem with software being corrupted when used on a Mercedes W211 04 registration once before, so there may be an issue with using the ET601 with Mercedes W211 200's and 220's.

Just as a quick check I tried it on a neighbour's 09 E200 and I got the same communication error message. Gendan have offered to change it for something else if it is a problem, so I must wait now until they get back to me.

I am tempted to try it on my old man's XJR but I don't know where the OBDII socket is, or even if it has one.

Hi, does a post about rabbits living in the boot of a near neighbours old 230E count as a legitimate post ?

Does any-one have any experience of Foxwell error code readers ? There seems to be a limited number of readers about and they seem mainly to be Autotel units. I have seen one of the Foxwell units priced at about £1200, which is about £1199 more than I was hoping to pay, if I have to replace the ET601 that I have.

I wonder, if I put a non-working error code reader on a Russian e-bay site and say that it is working, and when it arrives in Russia tell the buyer that it must have been blown up by the airport security scanner, would I get away with get away with not refunding the buyers money ? And I could say that as he paid in zloties there is no refund allowed :bannana:
I suspect that if I was unlucky the local chapter of the Moscow Mafia could come knocking on my door. On reflection, I think that if I have to, I will sell it to a Chinese buyer in Peking so that we can't understand each other and then I can put it down to mis-interpretation :wallbash:

I bough Autel md802 DS elite - very good device. I had a problem with SRS ligh on 2007 w204 220CDI and manage to clear code with no problem. Not everyone can afford to buy a device. Device can erase a mistake only if original problem was sorted.

Hi everybody, I've just been looking at a couple of Scanner discs, the company is based in Australia and the USA and is a disc you use in / with a laptop using a OBD2 to USB connector. Its called 'TOAD' and has a Diy version at $47 and a Pro version at $97 that allegedly does everything and will work on xp - W8.
Has anybody owned or tried this ? As I don't want to waste time or money on rubbish. Kimi.

Hi all. For those interested in scanners, I have just purchased the following:

Foxwell NT630 Engine ABS Airbag Diagnostic Scanner Tool UK Fault Code Scan Reset | eBay

Its a Foxwell NT630. I bought it primarily to clear the SRS light and malfunction warning on my 2002 CLK320.

I induced the warning light back at Christmas time when I decided to replace a couple of stepper (never again!) motors so I knew that I wasn't looking for a hard fault.

I can confirm that this unit did it and it was pretty straight forward to use. No other faults picked up on the car so I can't comment any further on its performance. Its supposed to support most vehicles up to 2013 so hopefully I'm future proofed for a few years. Not cheap at £200 but if I only use it a couple of times I reckon its paid for itself - after all, tools are free!!!
I have a NT510 , I did exactly the same as you , created a SRS fault while I was replacing the stepper motor , my problem is I am unable to find any faults, all the tests come up with no faults found . But I have the SRS warning on the cluster , any one had a similar problem ?IMG_20210210_132059.jpg

Can’t help with the technical question buddy , but MB’s hate low battery voltage . Get it fully charged and check again .
