C Class w205 220d AMG Premium line 2016
Hi, i think i am going to take the drivers seat out to take to the trimmers, he said to me 4 bolts and 2 electric connections to be unclipped its a 2016 c class amg premium line. He told me not to turn the ignition on as the seat will need recoding when you put it back in if you do as it will come up on the dash.
So questions.
Should i take of the battery lead? if so which one?
Also is it ok off for a few days as i don't know how long he will have it?
Or is it ok just to open car take seat out and leave it in the garage unlocked?
Or it may lock its self?
I don't want to take it to get it programmed after, thanks for your help.

Anyone have any answers on these questions please, thanks

Remove the negative battery lead.
A battery can be left for ages with one terminal disconnected.
Leave it in the garage with the door unlocked.
Keep the keys out of the ignition until finished.

You may have to reset the windows when you reconnect the battery.
Ignition on, then one by one, lower window to fully open, then raise and hold the button down for 10 seconds. That should reset the window controls.

Video here I made a couple of years ago as a guide to removing your battery/disconnecting.

Your biggest hurdle will be removing the seat without damaging any of the dash, They are heavy - 40kg's heavy and removing them ideally is a 2 person job.

I changed over the Artico seat covers , to leather, on my P Plus W205 last year and the trimmer didn't disconnect the battery before taking the seats out. He did plug a "STAR" type dongle into the port under the steering column to clear any error codes after reconnecting the seats.
He removed and refitted the covers on each seat in about 50 mins, he had retrimmed a few W205s and had a really quick way of stripping them:-
Remove the plastic trim just underneath the front of the seat , he then removed the two "C" clips from the frame (knocked them out with a small hammer) and then stripped the seat. Videos on youtube tell you to drill out the pop rivets on the side of the seat , but this was unnecessary and much quicker. The only difficult part is removing the seat back cover without damaging it , need a special tool really.

Thanks for your answers, Its the usual back side bolster cracking, i did repair it a couple of years ago but that dose not last forever so thought i would get it re trimmed in leather. Had a recommendation but he wants me to take the seat out  not to keen on doing that.
Does anyone have a recommendation of a Seat trimmer in Essex ? i live in Romford but will travel for someone good but lets not get silly. say 30 miles
Thanks again for your help, i did see someone put a place up in chelmsford i think maybe colchester, with there web site about 6 months ago but i cannot find it on a search, thanks again.

The cheapest way to re-do your seat is to find a second hand one on ebay, all your interior will then still be all Artico. What most don't realise is that the covers are exactly the same for driver and passenger, so you've got a much better chance of getting a really good cover from a passenger seat. Swopping just the base will then be much easier and no needto remove the back cover.
Could try some local breakers just for the base.
