The office I was based from moved from Birmingham to Derby in April (as well as this day job I'm also a part time home motor trader) I now commute via train which means I get to see places I wouldn't have otherwise (99% of the time neither nice not interesting!). I have noticed however something that may be of great interest to you SEC guys.

Derby side of Burton on Trent station there is an industrial estate (next to Wetmore sidings if anyone is railway conversent) with among other things a Royal Mail building, to the rear and side of this building is a car park. In this car park parked next to each other towards the railway line are two blue W126 Merc SEC's which have been there since at least April. I think they are none runners as they've never moved and the grille and other things are missing on the one leaving me to suspect that at least one is/was being broken up. Having always loved the W126 and knowing how hard some of the bits can be to obtain it seems strange these cars are just sitting there with no sign of change or movement.

Somebody please snap them up before I do something I regret and take them both home for further examination!

interesting... well im not far but never really make it that way... if you ever find out any more do let me know and maybe i could have one..

There is no shortage of breaking SEC's at the moment, they've reachead that age...last models being produced in the early 90's means the youngest are now 16 years old and the oldest the best part

What there is a shortage of is decent non rotten vehicles. This means parts are actually rather abundant now...apart from the various bits that rot...all the bumper chromes...wings and parcel shelves.

Values have hit an all time low, so now is a good time to start hoarding bits for a rebuild and values will gradually increase as the supply dwindles.

AMG parts still hold a premium, but interestingly they are still substantially less than they were new....i.e. AMG Penta wheels were upwards of £500 each new. A full W126 SEC bodykit was £2,500 new...the indicator will be when these parts start approaching their as new price and exceeding it.....

Right now there's enough around to keep the prices tight but not excessive, I guess that's why none of Talbir's Items sold on eBay recently.
