Security Or NOT of Electronic Mileage!

Ah but only works on W140/W129 up to 6/96 by combi-connector, A-class by diagnostic-connector, M-class by diagnostic-connector andSprinter, V-Klasse by combi-connector

So no dodgy E-classes then!!!! Looks like my 100K must be genuine then!

you do get dodgy E-classes it costs £500 but its just the beginning, yes the new ones

I love the bit where they say...

note that on very fast ones over 233 MHZ the software might not work.

...therefore, you should get a computer slower than 233MHZ.

Great time to dust down & sell my ancient laptops perhaps? :)

I know a guy in the midlands who has a geniune MB one that does all the MB range. Does a lot of work for dealers as well!!

W954 PLK - my old E-Class 320CDi estate which was taken back by the main dealer at Watford (they were unable to achieve satisfactory bodywork repairs) is now up for sale again on their website. The car left my house on 4/4/05 with 50,727 miles on the clock, with a 110 mile journey to Watford + journeys to & from their bodyshop - should now have at least 50,850 miles on the clock.
It is being advertised with 49,280miles!

Isn't that strange just before the magical 50K mark.

Fortunately for me I have both vehicle mileage checks performed on my car and the service history.

You should notify Trading Standards. It's not a lot of mileage but how do you know it hasn't been clocked before?

I don't know. They were supposed to supply a vehicle mileage check. Although this was requested, it never arrived!
The car was 1 owner and was probably close to correct mileage, however, the service history was missing 2 stamps (according to the mileage) these were later stamped up by MB of Beaconsfield.

How convenient.

I'm probably too well known at this dealership, but if anyone has the time to phone them (01923 691260) I would be interested to know how many owners the car has had.
If they are claiming 1, and they confirm the mileage, then I believe a call to Trading Standards is in order. The advertised mileage could just be a "mistake".
Interestingly, the car is now advertised at £19,995. It was sold to me in January at £17,995!

If they really have clocked it back it's an absolute disgrace. It would be good if someone on the forum can do some discreet information seeking and if its true, the dealer should be reported to trading standards and MB headquarters at MK.

Based on your previous troubles with the dealer, I have already made a mental note never to set foot in MB watford again, but this would take it to another level.
