Hello All

I have recently changed my beloved c180k to a new look A200d. Mercedes service plan cost £384.00 per year with original parts with labor is that better value? Your advice will highly appreciate
Thank you

I took out a 3 Year Service Plan on my C Class, £35 a Month, I paid in £840 over 23 Months and as I tend to do High Mileage I had a "A & B" Service done. I sold the Car last Wednesday and cancelled the Service Plan and took a new one out on my new car, they have just E Mailed to tell me I am due £323 Rebate! :dk:

Thanks for the thoughts and experience I will go for it Dear Forum and members Thank you

Glad to see the service plan seems a good idea. something i am considering on my on c63s. But I am also considering doing the first service myself and then taking out a 4 year plan which then covers 2 majors services...

I'm so happy for the feedback wanted to pamper the little girl

Because the MB Service Care Plan is fixed-price, it obviously becomes better value when it covers a major service (Service B) and/or additional items (ATF, filters, etc).

To simplify matters, my own calculations show that the only case where MB Service Care Plan is NOT good value, is when it covers a basic service (Service A) with no additional items. In all other cases MB Service Care Plan will eithe cost the same or be cheaper than paying for the service individually.

So for best value buy the plan in such a way as to avoid having any Service A with no additional items included.

I have a 3-year service plan for our B Class and it's just had its 4th service, a B5 which includes the fuel filter and air filter. Next year it will be an A and the DCT oil and filter, followed by a normal B service the year after. Add Mobilo, complementary collection/delivery and for £32pm, it is very good value. If I pay for the 7th service myself (an A) then take out another 3 year plan, I'll get all the expensive items all over again plus the 10th year coolant change. Make the system work for you. (And yes, I do keep my cars for a very long time!)

Thank you so much for the experience

Same with me when I cancelled the one on my A Class and took out the plan on the C Class. You'll probably get another letter soon saying the monthly payments on your plan for the E Class have dropped/changed. This happened to me as they recognised I'd taken out a new plan and put the rebate money towards the new plan which dropped the monthly payments. A win win in my book!

Liamt,

I never thought of having the Monthly costing changed, they just told me I was getting money back! :D

I went from A Class 220d AMG Line Premium Plus to C Class 250d AMG Line Premium Plus to E220d 4Matic AMG Line Premium Plus!

Better warn your better half/partner what you are getting next!

Yeah I thought that also as I received one of those letters, a week or two later I got another letter saying the monthly cost had reduced followed by another service plan 'welcome pack' with a revised schedule of payments showing the reduced monthly cost. In my case I had an A Class for two years but for some reason I had a three year service plan. The car went back slightly earlier than expected therefore I'd only used one of the services, the rebate money went into the new plan. It will be interesting to see if that happens in your case, certainly the amount of money you're due would warrant it.

Does anyone know if it is worth shopping around different dealers/franchises before taking a service plan?

I wondered as having used the calculate service cost on a couple of different dealer websites the price for my next A service seemed to vary from around £730 down to £611 so thought the same may be true for the service care plan too?

The price for the MB Service Care Plan is fixed regardless of where you buy it, and once you have it, you can get your car serviced at any MB dealer in the UK.

(I bought mine directly from MB over the phone, then chose to have the car serviced at MB Brooklands)

The reason you might still want to check service prices with your local MB dealers, is that it is not always obvious whether a Service Care Plan is good value (for example, where it coveres A-B-A plus one brake fluid change), so by calling local dealers and checking their service prices you can make an informed decision.

The odd thing is mine has had ABB services since new and brake fluid at 2017 service so am guessing the next one should be an A but presumably with brake fluid but not sure if that means the service plan will cover the cost of that or if the brake fluid is an ‘optional’ and therefore cost on top?

Brake Fluid change is covered under the service plan.

The only potential issue is that it needs to show as due, and if the service schedule is messes-up, then it might not show.

What does the instrument cluster say the next service is - A1?

Thanks for the comments finally last week I have signed the service contract. I have paid £64.00 as an initial payment received letter only need to pay£20.67 per month for the next 46 months hope this will help our forum
