Service plan worth it?

Press the Home button on the right hand spoke of the steering wheel, then scroll to the right using the thumb pad and click it when you get to the “Service” menu. Then scroll down to the relevant option and click the thumb pad again.

You can check on the instrument cluster in the car which service is due next. It will be an alphanumeric code e.g. B5 or B6 etc. Post it here and we'll tell you what's due.
Hi it says service B1 in 240 days

The best way to take one out is when it covers B,A,B (because B service costs more) .
Also worth working out when gearbox service is required and spark plugs if it’s petrol .
What year is the car ?
I agree with you...

OK, that makes sense as the car should have had an A service in 2020, B in 2021 and A in 2022.

If you intend to keep the car serviced in the dealer network and to keep it for at least 3 years, now is a good time to take out a 3-year ServiceCare plan which will cover all except parts that wear out (e.g. brake pads) for the B, A, B service cycle.

B1 is Service B with no additional items.

That's a bit odd, I would have expected the car to need various other bits in year 4 (brake fluid, air filter, fuel filter or spark plugs). I can only guess that the additional items have already been done in the last service (year 3).

Do you actually have a printout of the service history? If not, you can get one printed for you at your local MB dealership (bring the V5C in your name and photo ID).

I too was expecting spark plugs and air filter to be replaced at the second B service in year 4, but the W177 series is different: air filter and spark plugs are changed at 36-month intervals, i.e. on the second A- service, then the 3rd B-service, and so-forth. Brake fluid is still changed every 24-months, i.e. on the B services.

1 is a brake fluid change.

Yes so it had a B service in 2021 which had an oil and filter change and brake fluid replaced. In 2022 it was an A service and says the air filter element was replaced, spark plugs replaced and oil and filter changed.

That’s correct. See my post #27 above.

I had a 2 year service plan on my S63 which is now finished. Decided to take out a new one, on to Mercedes site. No difference in price if paying monthly or paying in full. Might as well go monthly. Filled up the form which was forwarded to Arnold Clark (Dundee). They will get in touch to set it up. That was 3 weeks ago. Obviously can't be bothered. Anyone else had this first class service:mad:

I have always arranged my Service Care Plans over the phone. Got the papers in the post. No specific dealer. But maybe it's different for AMG cars, I don't know.

It's the dealer. When you fill out the online form from Mercedes, it asks for your postcode, then flags up the closest dealer. You pick one & the form is sent to them & they will contact you.:wallbash:All Mercedes dealers around me, ie Dundee, Perth, Dunfermline are, you guessed it, Arnold Clark. They have nearly every car franchise in Scotland
Obviously can't be bothered. So if they are reading this, wakey, wakeyo_O ( Was going to say something else but in this woke age will probably be locked up)
Just filled up the online form again. Let's see when my next post on this subject will be.

I filled in the form at least 5 times and didn't get a single reply. Eventually had to go into the dealership to arrange it.

I have a 2021 GLC300 which has covered around 6500 miles.

I had a ‘B’ service recently which included change of brake fluid and cabin filter, this cost me less than £500 all in which I thought for a main dealer to be reasonable.

My next service is an ’A’ service even allowing for inflation it’s not (hopefully) going to be too much more than the ‘B’ service.

A service plan for my GLC works out at £86 per month for a 2 year plan, this would seem to be a more expensive option than paying for each individual service.

Regarding paying monthly versus paying up-front, the cost is equivalent however the term isn’t. If you pay monthly then you must use the final service within 12 months of the final payment. That doesn’t apply if paying up front, they currently mark the end date as the 10 year anniversary.

This is a valuable as it means that you can choose which services you use the service plan for; ie the most expensive ones, and pay as you go for the least expensive ones.

The Dunfermline dealership is Eastern Western, the same as Edinburgh

Call Brooklands in south London, and get the plan done over the phone. You can then use any MB dealership in the UK.
