Sheared Water Pump Bolt V8 CLK Advice

Thanks for the input chaps bouncing the alternatives round helps clarify the best course of action I shall be trying to fix the welder and shall also make enquiries re engineering firm, and failing that recover it to an indie the risks of drilling off centre and god forbid breaking the bit in there are best left for those who earn a living doing it properly
Boyd

Good luck with it Boyd, fingers crossed and keep us posted.

Fraid Not I'm going to weld a nut on as First choice and have not found time to fix the welder yet hopefully towards end of next week (change gas valve on the Torch ) and then upgrade / swap the regulator on the cylinder .....Other priorities in the way at the moment

If I’m looking at the photo right the exposed threads of the bolt look damaged. If you have access to a die set it might be worth trying to get a decent thread cut. Two nuts locked together will give you the best feel. Agree though that breaking the bond between the dissimilar metals is key

Yes Tried the two nuts when the thread was intact, what happened is the end nut turned when the inner nut was turned and they both turned so been there tried that The thread was damaged after I tried heat followed by the 6mm stud extractor it turned and flattened the thread I have recut the thread ready for the nut to be welded on

Fair enough. Always a bugger to get these out. Patience is the name of the game but that’s easier said than done. Best of luck.

If you can get a nut or better 2 on then use lock tight to super glue both on together .But heat will help break the bond of both dessimilar matals to let you remove it .

I've had stuck studs before now where double-nutting did nothing but break the end of the stud off. It is a good technique, but only up to a point. As the OP has already tried double-nutting it with no joy, clearly time to move to other methods.
