Hi All

Anyone know where to get genuine MB rear shocks for W211. Cheap would be good.

Hi,
Only place to buy genuine parts is your main dealer, though you maybe able to get OEM quality shocks from Euro car parts or German & Swedish.

Thanks Andy

Are you sitting comfortably, then I'll begin. My car failed the MOT on leaking rear shocks, however, the ride was fine, no problem at all. Had after market shocks fitted by Kwik Fit. Now car has violent vibration pretty much through the whole speed range, but worse at 40 ish then 60 ish. Also seems worse when under slight acceleration and going up hill. Went back to Kwik fit who put the old shocks back on and I still have the same problem. My question is what could have been done in the fitting process to cause this, as it was fine when it went in and had this problem when it came out.

If they jacked it up on the differential they may have damaged or misaligned the differential mountings on the subframe or damaged a halfshaft . Time to get a Merc specialist or main dealer to inspect it up on a ramp. Don't take it back to Kwik Fit.

I'll get a specialist to look at it and if damaged by the fitting process, I'll give Kwik Fit the bill (or try at least). If I drive my car will it do more damage.

It sounds like it is not the shockers that is the issue.

Is the vibration a low pitched drone?

I think you have a torque converter issue.

I don't think the shockers have anything to do with your problem.

It can be fixed.

New TC £901+vat

labour is around 5 hours.

Thankyouplease

Actually that's not strictly true, I have bought genuine AMG brake discs and pads in genuine MB boxes from Euro Car Parts in the past, always best to ask them if they are genuine, you might be suprised at what they have on their shelves ;)

Does the gearbox need to be replaced as well. I've been told there may be bits of the converter in it.

No. Its just the TC.

Get it diagnosed properly first by a dealer or specialist. Guessing is no good.

At the very least I would change the filter and fluid, it may have never been touched so could be like the centre of a Rolo.
Ultimately though you may have to go down the New TC route.

Yes I appreciate that, but Euro's only sell Gen items if pattern items are not available as in the case with my C43 front discs, but as in the O/P's case pattern/OEM standard shocks are available, hence no MB item offered.
