Mercedes CLS Shooting Brake pricing announced

With the new CLS Shooting Brake, Mercedes-Benz is once again adding a further highlight to its line of innovative luxury vehicles. In terms of its proportions, the five-door model is clearly a coupé, but with a roof which continues through to the rear it promises some remarkable new possibilities. Prices start at €61,761 for the CLS 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY. The new Shooting Brake is available to order with immediate effect, while at the same time the CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake is also making its debut.
"The new CLS Shooting Brake represents a new dimension of vehicle design and promises discerning customers independence at its most beautiful", explains Dr. Joachim Schmidt, Member of the Board of Mercedes-Benz Cars responsible for Sales and Marketing. Like the first successful CLS (2004) - which has long been imitated in the meantime - the CLS Shooting Brake has the potential to become the role model for a new market segment.
An extravagant and unique feature for the automotive industry is the designo wooden luggage compartment floor, which serves to underscore the hand-finished nature of the interior. For the luggage compartment floor made of American cherry tree wood, selected veneer sheets are glued and pressed together by hand in five cross-bonded layers to achieve high dimensional stability. For additional flexibility, the rear seat backrests can be folded down from the luggage compartment as standard. The rear seats themselves provide individual seats on the outsides and a third seat in the middle. An optional folding trailer coupling is also available.
The CLS Coupé was the world's first car to feature dynamic LED High Performance headlamps. The innovative lighting system is also available for the CLS Shooting Brake.
More than a dozen driving assistance systems in the CLS Shooting Brake help to prevent traffic accidents and also reduce the severity of an accident. These include Active Blind Spot Assist and Active Lane Keeping Assist. Both are included as part of the Driving Assistance package Plus, in combination with DISTRONIC PLUS, BAS PLUS and the PRE SAFE® Brake. The entry-level model in the Shooting Brake range is the CLS 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY (€61,761) producing 150 kW (204 hp). Combined fuel consumption is 5.3 litres of diesel per 100 kilometres, an excellent level for this performance class and equivalent to CO2 emissions of 139 grams per kilometre. Coming in above this are the two six-cylinder models, the CLS 350 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY (€65,628.50) producing 195 kW (265 hp) and the CLS 350 BlueEFFICIENCY (€66,818.50) producing 225 kW (306 hp). The CLS 500 BlueEFFICIENCY (€82,229) has a V8 biturbo engine producing 300 kW (408 hp). Two models are also available with all-wheel drive: the CLS 350 CDI 4MATIC BlueEFFICIENCY (€68,365.50) and the CLS 500 4MATIC BlueEFFICIENCY (€84,966).
The CLS Shooting Brake "Edition 1" will be available for a limited period of one year following market launch. The distinguishing features of this special model include a designo magno allanite grey matt paint finish, designo platinum white pearl leather appointments, floor mats with "Edition 1" lettering, black designo roof liner and aluminium pedals. Three alternative paint finishes are also available to choose from: obsidian black metallic, palladium silver metallic or cavansite blue metallic. The dynamic top-of-the-range model in the Shooting Brake model series is the CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake (€117,512.50), with an AMG V8 biturbo engine producing 386 kW (525 hp) and 700 Nm of torque, as well as the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission. In the Edition 1 variant these figures jump to 410 kW (557 hp) and 800 Nm. The combination of an AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension with electronically controlled damping system, electromechanical AMG sports parameter steering, and also optional AMG ceramic high-performance composite braking system, is synonymous with maximum driving dynamics. Visually, the CLS 63 AMG impresses with its athletic appearance and distinctive exterior and interior design. The model's standard specification also includes LED High Performance headlamps.
The market launch of the CLS Shooting Brake will commence on October 6, 2012 for all engine variants.

Does anyone know if brooklands has one on show?
I don't know about Brooklands but there is one on the Mercedes-Benz stand at the Open Golf at Lytham St Anne's today, it's very nice in the flesh but without knowing the volume of the Shooting Brake end I assume it's got about the same load capacity as a 3 Series estate.

It's about 1500 litres of load space. E estate I think is nearer to 2000

Well brooklands told me the show car is now on tour - it's the one at the Open at the moment. Nevertheless, I just placed a deposit for a forward order for one. Delivery due in November, spec'ing in late August / September.

Going to be in metallic Red, CLS350 CDI Sport, grey leather interior, climate seats, airmatic, memory package, sunroof and Harmon Kardon. I am tempted by blind spot assist, but not 100% convinced. And no, I'm not doign the wooden boot (it's 5k!) Assuming Comand is standard...

Will keep you posted. Apparently I'm 2nd in the queue for Brooklands (Dealer Demonstrator is first). Build starts in Oct...

did you get a discount, or a good trade in?

is the price list out already?

Not negotiated the final price yet. Basically I have reserved a slot. Mine will be okay trade in wise. I am thinking I won't get much off list, but I can likely get three years servicing plus perhaps some other bits.

List prices out in late Aug / early Sept. The build date for my slot is 1st decade Oct, with spec to be finalised 1st week of Sept.

I'll keep you posted!

I am SO jealous :) That looks like a stunning car.
Photos will of course be compulsory when it arrives.

It's a very, very nice looking car but I'd be very tempted to look at the R-Class instead.

Saying that, I'd like to be able to afford either :)
