Hi Folks
Just got my 1994 C180 working again (new ig leads did the trick) but...
Has been fine for the past couple of weeks, used 5 or 6 six days a week, starts every time, idle is now smooth, power returned.
Got in it this morning, drove a couple of miles, all fine. Got in again 1/2 hour later and no go.
Did start a couple of times but accelerator pedal did absolutely nothing and was running very badly.
Engine off but with ignition switched on there was a motor/electrical noise from the throttle butterfly valve. More specifically the black plastic unit stuck on the side of it. If I manually moved the valve the noise stopped and there was an audible click from, presumably, a switch inside.
According to the Haynes wiring diagram there is a motor inside the idle control unit so I guess this is what I heard.
Any ideas what the problem is? Is it servicable?
Any help appreciated as the bl**dy thing's off the road again!
Andy
PS my C180 seems to be an early model with the butterfly mouted horizontally not vertically as in the Haynes book. Also there's no AMF fitted!
