Should I swap for a C250TD

Im currently driving an E300TD (1999 T Avantgarde 49000 miles), my first Mercedes and I love it to bits. Merc have just sorted the rust problems under warranty so the cars immaculate with just the alloys needing reburbishment.
Problem is I have a dog and a pushbike, and need to carry them both at times for weekends away. Ive seen a C250TD (classic) on autotrader and it looks like it may suit me better, only thing is its very expensive and theyve had it a while.

Question is, am I taking a step backwards? I really want a car that I can keep for a long time and run reasonably economicaly. I checked Parkers reviews but I get the impression this is the place to go only if youve got a gripe.

Your thoughts would be welcome...Im hoping to view the C250 tommorow.

The C is an older design car and the one you are looking at is a classic version so the car will feel like a step backwards.
Other than that there is nothing to choose as the engien and drivetrain are from the same family.
