So I've been having issues...and a lot of people have said could be my MAF...just been to look at it.. And low and behold there's the top clip missing has one underneath...so its not fitting tight and moves around a little...

I'm hoping this explains the high revs...not finding gear at times etc..

BUT where the hell do I find a clip...and what do I search for..also should it have the rubber seal on both ends of the MAF..

Cheers as always guys

Actually just looked again the clip is part of the filter box...

Without seeing it I can only guess.

It should form a good seal between engine and air box. It is NOT uncommon to find that they are not correctly fitted (had this on my C55). I noticed that when I could easily move the MAF about with air box off. There is a clip that is attached to the engine. That on my 55 the MAF has to latch under as well as the normal clip. THis then hold it rigid before you fit the air box.

I'm just wondering if it would have such a detrimental effect though...as its £30 for a lid to get the clip...?

If you are sucking air directly into the engine after the MAF then yes, this is not good. Air leaks are generally not good although before the MAF maybe not as critical. Certainly make sure that you have checked that it is seating on all clips that are attached to the engine. It should sit nice and firmly on the engine.

Update...got a clip and now secured it, drove to petrol station and it was worse than ever..jiggled it a bit and driving back it was bob on...but the abs\asc light went out...
