Simply Mercedes 2024

For those who are meeting at the hotel on the Saturday I have just seen the following note on the Premier Inn website.

"Please note, from 19th July the car park will be managed by Horizon, charged at £8 per 24 hours."

Don't get fined by thinking it is free.

@daveenty @sjmaxwell

Where is the Tesco car park please and what time do you leave?
Tesco Car Park - Pod Point Charging Station · Tesco, Applemore, Hythe, Southampton SO45

Last year the Meetup time was 9am. We normally get there early and chat. Do turn up at least a little bit earlier to get a print out so that the organisers make sure you are parked together with the our group.

Feel free to drop me a DM if you would like my phone number for easier comms, the Saturday meetup with those down for the weekend and any change of plan details on the day.

I and others have had an email from the hotel stating "If you booked your stay before 18th July 2024, please inform the hotel’s reception team upon arrival – who will be happy to validate your parking."

This suggests that they are going to honour the original booking where parking was listed as free when booked before mid July so I and others may be OK but we will know more tomorrow when I get there!

Back home in north Bedfordshire and the M25 wasn't too bad this year. Not great but not too bad that is.
It as great to see those from the forum who could make it to this years Simply Mercedes and the weather was perfect for strolling around, looking at cars and talking to the owners.

See you at a meet-up in the future.

Another year, another Simply Mercedes. My 4th in a row and just as enjoyable.
The weather was kind, too warm in fact but another good turnout with plenty of classic Mercs as well as the AMG UK club boys in the top field;)
It seemed like every SLK around was at the event today. I can't remember ever seeing so many at one time. Last year it was A35/45's.

Another thing I noticed, or didn't notice, was the fact there wasn't one W213 E63 there, and only one S212 E63 Brabus 800.
Perhaps they really aren't that popular after all.
Nice to catch up with old friends and talk with a few members I've not met before.
Not a very nice drive back through the New Forest with streams of traffic still trying to get to Bournemouth beaches at 3pm. Took over an hour to drive 29 miles. Apologies for leaving without saying goodbye to all.
My few pics.

Thanks also Paul for the organisation.
Hope no one collected any conkers (you had to be there....)

Good to catch up with the usual and some new people. A hot day but some great cars and some classic classics to pour over.
I even managed a wander around the museum. It was a little cooler

And I may have solved the dash cam installation challenge on the SLK! (after being an interloper and parking up with and chatting to that herd of SLKs - great photo from the monorail Roger)

Will let you on that after seeing how Carlos aka Ian of the SLKs ,whom Dave knows it's seems, did it on his.

A lovely day to blat the little car with the big engine through the Forest, esp on the way back - and not to rub it in, but the traffic was fine going east...

PS, no photos worth putting up here, sorry

🤣🤣🤣🤣👍 yes. you really did 😀

Good day, good company and excellent weather.

Got back home quite early yesterday, I left the hotel around 0430 as (a) I wanted to miss the traffic and (b) I was awake anyway as I'm currently not sleeping well. Exactly 4 hours to do the 245 miles back, which was a lot better that the 5+ it took me to get down on the Saturday.

No photos from me as usual because I always forget...

Hope no one collected any conkers (you had to be there....)

I moved mine a couple of times just trying to keep it out of the way. :(

AKA Flango. He's not been on here for a good while now, he seems to spend more time on the SLK groups but I still chat with him occasionally.
