I am not sure if this should be in the bodywork forum but can someone kindly tell me what is the best thing to clean the 'windows' of the hood of a SL please? Are they perspex or vinyl? I want to remove cloudiness and some scratches.

Its perspex.

Best stuff i've used is called HINDSIGHT. It works really well and removes the cloudiness, but its not cheap.

KLP92- many thanks for pointing me in the right direction. You are right about it being pricey but if it works, ....

If you were located near london, you could have popped round and used mine as i've done 4 SL's and still have 3/4 left!!

Second vote for Hindsight.

Bought some last summer, wish I'd taken before and after pics!!

Oh yeah, the car on their website is an R129......

I could do with cleaning the rear window on my SL, but is it really worth over £40 ?
Wobbly

It all depends on how much you want to look after your car , if you are happy driving around with a cloudy rear window then its probably not worth you spending £40 ....

However if you like to keep your car looking as new and pristine as possible, then yes, i would go for it .... It will help resale value when you come to sell it too , i suppose it all depends on whether you are bothered about appearances or not ( i suppose safety is an issue too ).....

How much is a new screen from Mercedes , as the other alternative ?

A new rear window fitted is £250 - the stuff really is worth the money - it's a treatment as well as a cleaner and stops it from cracking in winter.

mm - an interesting site - reckons he's used it on an SLK

However - not doubting the effectiveness of the stuff ;)

Guys, i hear that renovo are supposed to be really good aswell, it is used by quinten wilson, well that what they claim on the site, it is a whole package for £50 includes windscreen cleaner - roof cleaner and conditioner and rejuvinator, which is reasonable i think
