SL (R129) Soft Top Removal

Has anyone taken the soft top off their R129? If so, were any problems encountered? I have been quoted a keen price to have the windows replaced provided I deliver the soft top.

Personally I wouldn't take the risk - realigning it after removal is the hard part. The top is glued to the frame so you won't be removing it from that - just unbolting the whole thing.

I am aware of difficulties realigning the hood. Is unbolting the whole frame with hood difficult? The guy who is fitting the new windows has a very small workshop and does not want my car tying up the place for the time he needs, hence him wanting me to leave him the hood (and frame).

Unbolting it is easy enough - you'll need someone to help as it's awkward with it's size and weight.
