SL350 / R230 Fuel Sloshing Noise

It might be that all the driving recently with the roof up I have become over aware of the noise BUT I dont remember it previously.

Does anyone else get a fuel sloshing noise from the fuel tank area when braking or accelerating at low speed.

Now I can hear it its slowly driving me crazy.

Common ?

Reason ?

A cure ?

What age is the car? There's a common issue with the baffle in the fuel tank coming loose, but this was fixed around 2006 I think.

As BTB said, probably fuel tank baffle. It is fixable and I believe there's someone in Coventry that does the fix so I imagine there will be others too

Ah.................that's interesting - reg 2006 (built in 2005).

Crickey what can you do about that ?

Anyone know of where I can get this fixed ? Mine has suddenly started making a banging noise whenever I brake. I believe the internal fuel tank baffle has come adrift, and is banging on the sides of the tank as the fuel moves about. I believe it is possible to fix without removing the tank...

Yes, well-travelled path. A bit of desk research and a chat with your local MB specialist will get it fixed for you.

I didn’t have the problem with my two, but it’s a known, fixable issue.

I fix about one per week. its a really common problem, the baffle welds have broken.
