Hi all
Thought I would see if anybody has come across this problem.
We have a customers SL500 WDB 230
It has failed the MOT at an another garage for excessive play in the shock absorber supporting ball joints on both sides.
It has code 487 ABC hydraulic suspension package.
The shock absorbers have ball joints on the bottom which mounts into the camber arm.
Never seen that much play there before, over 10 years on Mercedes models.
Does anybody know where you can get them from or somewhere that is recommended to recondition them.
Mercedes only list the full strut & at £1058+ vat each and needing both sides customer is not too happy
Any info be great cheers

Is the balljoint retained with a circlip? If so remove it, measure it, source a replacement and fit it

Then market the balljoints at a huge markup as a replacement part for Mercedes struts...

This company may be of some help:

Not too sure about the technical (if this is the part they need) but i chucked the OE numbers in and got the following:

2113201325 = 626223405 = LH REAR AIR SPRING @ £783.60

Its a special order item (7-10 days) and would ned to be ordered by phone

Good luck sorting it!

After lots of web searching we are still unable to find a replacement ball joint for the bottom of the hydraulic shock absorber.
We did find a company in Liverpool, Wheel Alignment & Balljoint Centre
They can refurbish the ball joints & give 12 month wty.
They turned them round in a day, can be done in couple of hours if you want to wait.
We have just refitted the shocks & road tested, re checked for play, all good
