G'day - long story cut short, keyless go seems to have an intermittent fault.

Started only this week - lock & unlock ok, although unlock sometimes seems to take longer to happen than before.

Main isue "key not recognised" when trying to start. Which is a bit silly when it just let me in!

I've replaced battery in key (in fact both keys - both showing the same issues, so not the keys themselves)

I had three consecutive "key not recognised" this morning - tried resetting the key by holding lock & unlock until the light flashes and then it worked - it's almost as if the car is forgetting the key. I've also tried putting the key in the ignition & pressing a button twice quickly which also resets something, but to no permanent avail.

Has anyone experienced similar and if so, what was the eventual remedy?

Many thanks for any suggestions

have you got any key rings on the keys (or other keys), they can interfere and cause this. I sometimes have to move the keys around in my pocket and then key is recognised (i have a keyring which interferes)

I have one other key in my pocket but that's always been the case.

When it plays "key not recognised" trick, I've actually removed the (car) key from my pocket & tried in different places, waving it about like a lunatic, including the centre console, all to no effect. I even tried turning off my mobile, but no difference

The "resetting" of the key (open & close at the same time) seems to jog the car's memory as it (so far) has then decided to play the game & start, so I really do believe the issue is the car's system rather than the key itself

and this is with both keys?

you may have to get it to an indi and get it on diags, theres bound to be a few tests that can be done to determine, it might have even got a fault code logged.

There are antenna all over the place in the car, so the car knows where the keys are.

Really, as Alps says, at this point Star Diagnosis is needed (and not some alternative diagnosis system)

Richard

yesterday, it decided to work every time - typical, when it was a nice dry Saturday & I had time to start trying different combinations to see if I could narrow it down!
