So what is wrong with this one then (apart from the dodgy spoiler). At that mileage if there is no catch then I'd buy that to sell on as 20 odd thousand mile 500s can go for significantly more than £15K, never mind SL60s.

Yes be careful I did the HPI check... I also would doubt the mileage without copious paperwork to back it up.

EDIT: Im referring to the second one in this thread. the original black one checks out ok, but its odd that another black one shows up so soon after a member buying one recently...

The first one now has pictures and a description on eBay, including, apparently a brand new M119 AMG engine fitted in 2007, really? Were they available as whole engines nearly 10 years after being replaced by the M113 and what on earth happened that a merc V8 needed replacing after 60k miles (ish)? (Based on the mileage now, in 2012 being circa 79k)

Boring out the M117/119s can lead to a cracked block - no tuner as far as i know ever sleeved the cylinders, which leaves a very thin lining once you've bored out to 6.0l+ on a 117/119 block... so they are prone to wear/damage if not treated right.

Sl60 amg pre facelift went for £17,9k, 30k miles though.
I drove a prefacelift r129 and i didnt like the 4 speed auto at all or the interior. I do probably prefer the boxy exterior though.

There was a dealer in Germany a few years ago selling brand new Mercedes engines still in crates. I seem to remember the SL60 motor sold for £6000. I think he also had at least one 3.6 M104 at about £2000 IIRC.

Edit.. So, for future reference, the dark blue SL60 AMG with reg number H1 KVV has been an insurance write off.
