Is this an original colour?

The wheels are shocking!!!! I don't like being negative about someone else's car but they really make the car look cheap imo

Quite sure it's not original.

Looks like Pearlescent Blue from MG ZR / ZS / ZT cars of the day (20 years ago now).

Or maybe something TVR would have knocked out.

Last time I saw gaudy flip paint was in the 1990's. MOT history looks good on the car (probably the only thing that looks good on it) 🤣

Faffed about with by Kahn, the king of tastelessness, says it all !

Such a shame!
If it had the original wheels, it would have looked much better i think. This wheels just look lost in those arches, no concave at all and rubbish design.
I used to like flip paint when i was 15 years old 😆

A truly horrid thing to do to a lovely car.

ChromaFlair. A 1990's fashion.

Excruciatingly expensive to buy and apply, and horrendous to repair.

Mercedes did offer Chromaflair paint as an expensive option so it could easily be a factory option, but could also have been done aftermarket. The VIN number will reveal all in the respect.

The Kahn wheels are very much of their time. Not to everyone’s taste in period but even more so now with the passage of time, anything very fashionable tends to fall out of fashion quickly.

Wheels are easily sorted for anyone dead-set on a not-silver and not-black SL 65 though.

If any wants to pick up some Chromaflair here's the price (and colour choice): £102 / 250ml. Website to order it is below:

But personally, I'd say the SL65 is calling out for a £4k wrap.

Problem is these cars are Rare with a capital R. If I got one, it would need to be original. I would be concerned that the original wheels are no longer available from MB. The price is not too bad, and the mileage sounds reasonable, if not clocked, but I'd want to negotiate on price, and return to original. The paint may be original. I am not sure whether that interior is a designo option, or is that a Kahn special ? You would have to do a bit of research on this one, depends what has been messed with, I would not want a mapped engine personally. The seller sounds a bit vague, not a good start. It has been on eBay for a while.

Truly horrific.

Someone near me has done something similar to a poor old R129.

They wrap everything they get, add hideous wheels drive around like complete bell ends.

God knows who they think they are "impressing".

You sound like you are starting to get a new car itch buddy ? :)

I'm checked every day what Mercedes V12's are coming up for sale 😁.
I really fancy an S65AMG W221 but the ones that are currently up for sale don't do anything for me. There is a white S65AMG that is on Autotrader and it looks lovely on the outside but i'm not sure i like the interior and the fact that is a pre facelift model.... even though the pre facelift looks beautiful but for the money it's up for, i'd prefer a late facelift model

You've got to have a lot of patience when there's only a dozen or so facelift and less than a hundred overall in the UK.

It's probably more about hunting down the car, than waiting for the advert or auction. And lord knows how you value them.
