Slider pins

Just servicing my rear brakes as noticed a bit of binding after a long journey.
Brake pads couldn't move freely. One other thing I noticed was the caliper pins were really stiff in the rubber boots but the boots were clear of any obstruction and the lube made no difference. I removed the boots to find a build up of white powder between the boot and the metal of the calliper. Cleaned it all out and replaced boots and pins now move super easy. Anyone had this before or know what causes it?

Or, perhaps someone has previously lubricated the slider pins & used a mineral oil based lubricant.?
Fwiw a few years ago I was asked by an acquaintance to take a look at his motorcycle front brakes, because "they have been binding since having the new pads fitted" & "everything has been thoroughly cleaned & lubed with brand new caliper pistons & seals, so they should be perfect"..
Sure enough, when I had a look ( fully expecting it would be an issue with the installation of the new pistons/seals) I soon realised actually the sliders were tight as,,,
Stripped them off, and they had been very well lubed,,,,,,,,, with copperslip! The oil from the copperslip had caused the rubber seals on the sliders to swell so much that the sliders were almost bound.

I usually clean them up, rub them down slightly if pitted and you’re not replacing them. Then lube with the red grease.
